Jurassic World

Jurassic World

Back in 1993, Jurassic Park movie. When I saw this movie, my life change forever. I knew back then, my life will never be the same. You can imagine the feeling I had when I was promoted to work on this sequel.

I had the incredible chance to work with the great Geoff Campbell, Creature Model Supervisor for the show. After 2 month on the movie, he and the production propose me the Lead Creature Modeling position. It was an other great moment in my life.

I had the great opportunity to model many creature like, the Indominus Rex, the T-Rex, the Apatosaurus, the Baby Apatosaurus, the Pteranodon and I help the Raptor base mesh. I did other creature but unfortunately, the story line change and the studio decide to remove those asset from the movie.

I also build almost all the dino muscle system for the simulation. Almost all shape library and PSD shape. I help the environment team with the Aviary, build the egg for the intro and many, many corrective on shot.

Nominees for the 14th Annual VES awards
Categories: Outstanding Models in a Photoreal or Animated Project for the Indominus Rex

This was the best experience of my life. A lot of fun!!
Hope you enjoy the movie!

T-Rex Model

T-Rex Model

I was in charge for make the Trex from JP1 alive. The challenge for this creature was to match as close as possible the Trex from the original movie. I use the original JP concept from Crash and I scan the ILM maquette located into the ILM building like a starting point. The ILM maquette was a nice starting point but the scan did not capture all information and area like the inside of the mouth, inside of the leg, arm or tail has major hole problem. I had to recreate those area by myself. Other problem, the maquette was nice but really different from the JP1 Trex. The director colin trevorrow ask me to make sure the Trex look closer to the original movie with a 22 years older look. So, base on those informations, I build the model with many reference I can found, web, DVD article etc. This was super excited! I did the Zbrush Displacement base details, View Paint department did the scale details was paint in Mari and reapply into Zbrush, Kris Costa build the Shape Library, I had at the end to modify or add some shape, I did the PSD Shape, spits and drools, Corrective on Shot.
